As the Chief Executive Officer of HP Microsystems, Purna Mohanty brings in over 21 years of engineering and executive leadership experience in semiconductor technology companies with special emphasis on high speed interface IPs, networking and storage. Prior to joining HP Microsystems, Purna held the positions of director of product marketing, and director of operations respectively at Snowbush IP division of Gennum. He is a serial entrepreneur, and has been through successful Silicon Valley start-ups - ASIC Architect (which he had co-founded, and acquired by Gennum), Platys Communication (acquired by Adaptec), SmartSAN Networks (acquired by Gadzoox). Purna has years of experience working for Sony, LSI Logic and Philips. Purna is a member of TiE Silicon Valley, and sits on the advisory board of technology start-ups. He holds several US patents in complex area of SoC verification. Purna received a MSEE from University of Toledo, OH in 1993, and a BSEE from National Institute of Rourkela in 1988.
As a part of his personal social responsibility, Purna provides leadership to high leverage and high social impact activities. He is instrumental to introduce Foundation for Excellence to his state of Odisha back in 1998. Purna conceptualized the Invest Bhubaneswar initiative in 2009, and drove the vision of Invest Bhubaneswar initiative from Silicon Valley, California to Odisha, and thus help connect businesses around the globe to the opportunities in the state of Odisha. |

He supported the turnaround and scaling up of 7 Asian Chapters and the launch of 4 new ones including Tokyo and Brussels. Mr. Hare Patnaik is the founder President and CTO of HP Microsystems Inc since 1984. With more than 30 years of experience, Hare is an authority in the architecture and designing of embedded systems for automobiles – specializing in Anti-lock Braking Systems, Computer-aided Vehicle Diagnostics, Navigation Systems, Head Up Display, Collision Avoidance Steering Systems. He was an integral part of GM’s R&D team for several key areas. During 2001-2003, he was the chief engineer at Trip Master Corporation, and was instrumental for significant revenue of the company through the commercialization of the data acquisition computers. In 1996, Hare was involved in the design of the Hertz’s popular ‘Never Lost’ navigation system. In 1991, he was the chief architect for “Travtek” – a joint venture between private (GM, AAA, Avis) and public (Florida Department of Transportation and NHTSA). Hare’s ingenuity had helped NUMMI Fremont and Saturn Tennesse to solve electrical production problems.
Hare received MSEE and MBA degrees from University of Detroit in late 70’s. He received a BSEE from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, India in 1971, followed by a MSEE from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India in 1973. To his credit and commitment to provide excellence in engineering, Hare also holds a Professional Engineering license since 1981.
